Neptune Aqua : Rainwater Harvesting
Rainwater Harvesting Explained
Rainwater is collected from the roof via guttering, down-spouts and filters to a tank where it is stored until it is required. This water is then automatically delivered to the point of use: - toilets, laundry, stand-pipe or garden irrigation system.

Using collected rainwater that would otherwise be a demand for mains water reduces costs and is kind to the environment. An additional benefit is that these systems divert some of the UK’s annual rainfall away from the sewerage system, thus helping to reduce the flooding risks which have featured so largely in the news lately.

The Neptune Aqua rainwater harvesting units avoid the requirement to fit heavy header tanks in roof voids, thus reducing roof construction costs by down-grading the load-bearing requirements of the roof trusses. However, our units are infinitely adaptable and we have units which can easily accommodate delivery to a normal header tank if that is preferred.

The storage tank is usually installed underground (e.g. under a car park or garden), although ground level and wall-mounted tanks are also available. Tanks size is ideally determined by taking into account the size of the roof, the average rainfall for that particular area and the expected water demand. The larger the tank, the more water saved!
