Water Usage in the UK

Did you know that the UK has less available water per person than most other European countries? It may also surprise you that London is drier than Istanbul, and that the South East of England has less water available per person than Syria or the Sudan!

Water is becoming scarce in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and with this large scale drought we’re seeing the lowest rainfall, groundwater and reservoir levels for decades.

Average use per person in the UK uses around 130 – 150 litres of water per day (includes drinking, bathing, cooking, cleaning, washing and W.C. flushing etc…) This usage has been rising by around 1% a year since 1930, and long-term consumption at this level is simply not sustainable…

If we do not take action now, climate change, population shifts and behaviour mean the UK will face increased water stress in the future.
